Never Forsaken

In life I have noticed that we are plagued with a variety of fears. Fear that often leads to our feeble attempts to control. The fear of sickness, fear of bankruptcy or “losing the farm,” the fear of running out of food or other important supplies like toilet tissue. The fear of death or the fear of how we will die. Even the fear of embarrassment and shame torments some people. While these fears and others creep into our minds and haunt us, David writes in (Psalm 37:25) “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.”

Instead of trusting in the Lord, we often try to control our fears. “I’ll buy a freezer and stock it full of food.” What if the power goes out? “I’ll buy a generator to keep everything running in my house.” What if the power goes out? “Well then, I will buy solar panels for my house.”

God is connected to the righteous

But David tells us that he has never seen God’s righteous people forsaken. Thank God we have been made righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:9). Trusting in God’s provisions in this life is the true answer to all our fears. But God has also made provisions beyond our physical life and this physical world. “I have gone to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come back to take you to be with me that you may also be where I am,” (John 14:2-3). Truly, He will NEVER forsake the righteous.
