Day Twenty-Nine

Day 29 of the Forty Days of Prayer of the MoSt Church (January 30, 2011)

God is Compassionate

Matthew 9:36 (NIV)
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Meditation Thought:  We see God’s compassion throughout the Old Testament as He cared for His people.  How many times did He rescue the Israelites when they had been disobedient?  In the New Testament, how often did we see the compassion of Jesus?  When He fed the 5,000; when He healed the sick; when Lazarus died; when He wept over Jerusalem.  Do we show compassion today?

Prayer:  Father, when I see those who are less fortunate than I am, please help me to be like You — compassionate.  Even if it takes some of my time … or my money … or some effort.  Thank You for showing compassion to me.  Through Your Son’s Name I pray, Amen.
