Day Thirty-Seven

Day 37 of the Forty Days of Prayer of the MoSt Church (February 7, 2011)

Psalm 116:1-4; 12-14 (NIV)
(1) I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.  (2) Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as i live.  (3) The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow.  (4) Then I called on the name of the Lord:  “Lord, save me!”

(12) What shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?  (13) I will lift up the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord.  (14) I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.

Meditation Thought:  God has rescued me from imminent death.  Public celebration (v. 14) and passion for God is the least I can offer him.

Prayer:  God, give me the courage to be passionate for You!  So much of my life tells me to be quiet, to be still, to hold back my love and worship for You, but God, YOU HAVE SAVED ME!  The least I can offer is to publicly declare my love and worship for You!  Declaring this praise is commanded, and You love our worship, because we are precious to You!  God, if I have ever been taught to withhold my passion for You, forgive me, and forgive those who taught that to me.  I will call upon Your name in the presence of all Your people, from now on.
