Word, Thought, and Prayer for Day Five

Word:

Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:14, 15)

Meditation Thought:  Declare your faith and your allegiance to serve God faithfully.

Prayer:  Dear God and Creator of all things, there is no one like You. I want to serve and worship You every day and every week. There are times that I am so tired from my work that I just want to sleep in on Sunday. There are times I don’t feel well and I have to confess, it is easier to stay home,  in bed, and relax and enjoy some time to myself and time with my family. I pray You will bring to my mind that there are people who will miss me and who want to see me and greet me with a handshake or a hug.

God, help me to be a better example in faithful attendance to Your holy day and time of worship; that special time when Christians come together and sing Your praise and study Your Word. Help me to understand that I need to worship You because I was made to worship. Worship is to strengthen me and refresh myself in Your Spirit. Thank You, Father, for patience with me as I continue to grow and mature in my faith. In Jesus I pray, Amen.
