Word:

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29)

Meditation Thought: We hear much about being good stewards of the possessions God gives us, but we must also be good stewards of the words we say. Our words have the power to build up or tear down. It is up to us to choose the right words.

Prayer: O Lord, help me to be as diligent in the way I spend my words as I am in the way I spend my money. I am often reminded of my stewardship responsibility in using my money, but help me also to be a good steward of the opportunities You give me to speak a positive word to build someone up. I want to be a builder – give me the wisdom to select the words that will accomplish that task. In the name of the One who said “I will build my church” I pray, Amen.
