Word:

The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. (Proverbs 15:4)

Meditation Thought: We have all heard that “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” It’s hard to think of anything further than the truth. We have seen it, and have experienced cutting words of criticism which have crushed our spirit.

Prayer: Dear God, I don’t want to be a spirit crusher. That spirit within each of us is the thing that makes us like You. There is not a single person on earth who is not special and precious to You! That spirit You placed within us is the very essence of what You made us to be and how You made us unique and special. Please don’t let me use unkind words to destroy the spirit of one of Your precious creations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
