Prayer for Grace, Love and Fellowship

2 Corinthians 13:14

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

We have some strange ways of expressing encouragement and blessings to our friends and loved ones.  If we have a friend about to perform on stage, we have this weird comment “Break a Leg”.  We certainly don’t mean that literally, it’s just a long time traditional expression.  If someone is going into an athletic competition, we may say “Good Luck” or “Give Them All You’ve Got” or some similar expression.  When someone is going through a difficult time, we may say “God Bless You” or “I’ll be Praying For You.”  In old west days, if someone was leaving on a trip, a friend might say “Happy Trails to You.”

Paul in this verse has perhaps the greatest and most concise blessing that can be given to another person.  When we ask for someone to have the grace of Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we have expressed a desire for all of God to provide for all their needs.  When we experience the grace of Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we have all our spiritual needs supplied.  May we all experience these blessings in our lives as we try to live for God every day.
