Mentoring Prayer

I Thessalonians 3:9-12

How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you? 10 Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.

11 Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you. 12 May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.13 May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.

Paul prayed for the Thessalonians. He loved them and he felt joy in his heart when he thought of them. He wanted to teach them things he did not have time for when he was with them before so that their faith would be made even stronger. He wanted their love to grow so they would love others more out of their abundance.

I love the MoSt church and give thanks for it. As a church and as individuals we do pray fervently for each other’s needs, especially when we are sick or in physical need. But Paul was praying here for the Thessalonians’ spiritual health. So let us like Paul’s example also pray for each other to have stronger faith and to grow in our love for each other so we can abound in love for other people and that our hearts will be made stronger so we can be holy and blameless before God when Christ returns.
