1 Thessalonians 3:12
12 May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.
Good mood (as well as bad mood) is contagious. When someone is laughing and radiates “inner sunshine” that person it seems attracts people. Everyone wants some of “the sunshine” to “rub off”. A person like this is pleasant to be around.
We can never be ALWAYS in a good mood, I understand. But a person that seems to be constantly complaining about something, portraying “gloom and doom”, is hard to be around for a long time.
Last Sunday Mike mentioned signs of a mature Christian. One of them is the ability to rejoice in any circumstances. This should be our trait. In 1 Thessalonians 3:12 Paul prays for the increase of the reason of our ability to rejoice. “The chain reaction” is pretty obvious:
- God loved us first and sent Jesus to save us.
- Jesus loved us and chose to die instead of us.
- We love Jesus and the overflow of this love shows in our attitude to life in general and our neighbor in particular.
- That love is felt by the world around us and is attributed to God-the first source.
What a wonderful circle/chain! Let’s not be a “missing link”, let’s be thankful to God for providing us with “the inner sunshine.”
