1 John 3:1

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

I just came from the funeral service for Marva Ann Wood.  It was very special that every one of her children and grandchildren spoke at the service and told about what a blessing it was to have her as their Mom and Memaw and what an impact she had made on their lives.  They told about how she loved them and taught them, and what an impact she had made on them.

Then I read this scripture about how we are the children of God—the Creator of the Universe is our Father, and the love that He has lavished on us goes far beyond that of even our earthly fathers and mothers.  How blessed we are!  All of us at that funeral could identify with what the children and grandchildren were saying, because we knew Marva Ann.  The only people who couldn’t appreciate their remarks are those who did not know Marva Ann.

The sad thing in our world is that there are many people who do not know that kind of love because they do not know our God.  May we be the messengers who help them to come to know our God.
