1 Corinthians 16:14

“Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14

Wow.  Such a small verse with such powerful command.   I was part of a conversation this week in which several of the people involved got pretty strong in their words and some feelings were deeply hurt.  I tried to smooth things over, and it really didn’t work.  They were both very hurt and didn’t want to speak to each other at all.  One woke up during the night, read her Bible, and cried…..she realized how much she had hurt a very dear friend.  She apologized the next day, and hopefully things will be restored.

What if we really practiced this verse in all we do?   How many apologies would we NOT have to make if we kept our conversations totally focused on love and approached any and every situation with love?   And even if it’s not our fault, we are mistreated or talked ugly to, can we respond in love instead of being ugly back?

If we can start with our conversations, maybe it can bleed over into all areas of our lives.  Let’s try to be like Jesus, He “let all that He did be done in love.”
