Day Twelve of the Forty Days of Prayer of the MoSt Church (January 13, 2011)

John 10:26
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they know me.

Meditation Thought:  Relationships can never thrive, and they rarely even survive, if the communication that takes place in the relationship only goes one way.  We’ve talked about our talking to God in prayer, but we also must take time to listen to God as He speaks to us.

Much of that communication comes through His Word as we read it and reflect on what it says to the situations we face.  Yet far too often we read the stories seeking what we may teach to someone else in a class or study session, not what God is really saying directly to us.  When God speaks, we  must listen.

Prayer:  O God, help me to see Your Word as a guideline for my own life, not as a textbook I teach to someone else.  Help me to be Your sheep, listening to Your voice and following You.  In the name of the Good Shepherd, Amen.
