Word:
Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (I Peter 4:9-11)
Meditation Thought: It is one thing to serve. It is another thing to serve willingly. Most of us go to work, and we do the job the boss gives us to do – but far too often we grumble and complain about the work, or the lack of pay and benefits. We do just enough to get by, so we can maintain our jobs and collect our paychecks. How much better would it be if we looked at our jobs as opportunities God gives us to glorify Him — through our work and our attitude. We may not be able to choose the job we have, but we can choose the attitude with which we do it.
Prayer: Dear God, give me different glasses today, so I can see the jobs before me as opportunities to bring You glory by the attitude I show and the willingness I have to serve in the tasks You’ve given me. Help me to realize that the “corner office” and the big paycheck may not bring glory to You, but instead they may bring glory to me. The impact I have on the spirits of people around me what really brings You glory. Help me make the very best use of my opportunities today. In the glorious name of Jesus, Amen.
