Word, Thought, and Prayer for Day Thirteen

Word:

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:6-8)

Meditation Thought: We have just come through a time when there is a focus on gifts. Do we realize that our ability to serve others is a gift from God? Let’s not leave it unwrapped.

Prayer: Father, we don’t want to be like the man who buried his talents. Help us to be people who use the ability You give us to meet the needs of others, as much as we can. May we realize that just as we get joy seeing someone we love use a gift we gave them, You also get joy from seeing us use the gifts You give us. Serving is one of those gifts. Help us to use it well. In the name of our great gift-giver, Amen.
