Word, Thought, and Prayer for Day Twenty-Six

Word:

As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “I tell you the truth,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” (Luke 21:1-4)

Meditation Thought: God not only sees what I give, but He also sees my heart behind my giving.

Prayer: Father in heaven, nothing is hidden from You. You know my thoughts before I think them, and You know my words before I say them, and you see my heart from where my thoughts and words originate. This knowledge of You humbles me and convicts my spirit and my soul. I pray that I will always strive to be a cheerful giver, and that I will not compare what I give to what others give or do not give. Thank You for showing me how to give through Your example of giving your son, Jesus, for my sins. It is through the gift of Your son that I pray to You now, Amen.
