Word:
Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (James 1:16-18, 26, 27)
Meditation Thought: Our gifts come from God so that we can care for others.
Prayer: Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, that I may see those in need around me. Keep me pure in my heart so that I will not be stingy in helping those in need. I pray that I will strive to have a religion that is pure and faultless before You. It is through Jesus that I pray – the One who gave it all – Amen.
