Do You Know What You Want? (Part 1)

By Mike Seale
The story of blind Bartimaeus is one of great stories showing mercy of our LORD and Savior, and also one that causes me to ask, “Do you know what you want?”

Like Bartimaeus, he had heard about Jesus (Mark 10:47). I love his boldness to shout for mercy. I have found myself shouting for help but typically it’s been when I’m the most broken. When we discover how truly broken and helpless we are, we will not care about what others think or say, we will start shouting for help!

For Bartimaeus, he continued shouting “all the more,” when others “rebuked him and told him to be quiet!” He shouted, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” From this text it appears that he believed who Jesus was, the Messiah. Do we really believe who Jesus is? Son of the living GOD?

The Challenge today is to remind ourselves who it is that has come into the world to heal our brokenness. I hope for everyone of us to understand the depth of our spiritual blindness, how broken we are, and how desperate we are for the power of Christ in our lives. Be blessed today as you shout, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
