1 Thessalonians 3:12
May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.
Remember what happens when you pour a warm soft drink over a glass of fresh ice? It starts to fizz immediately and before long the foam is overflowing the glass before you have poured the glass half full of drink. I love that. The foam tastes so good and the drink tastes even better than it would if you were drinking it cold out of the bottle.
That’s the mental picture I get from this verse. Our love is the drink being poured into the glass, and the Lord is like the ice that causes that love to overflow and be even better than it would be otherwise. That is Paul’s prayer for the brethren in Thessalonica, and for all of us who read his words even today. Let the Lord work in our hearts to increase our love and make it overflow not just to one another, but to everyone we come in contact with. When we do that, we will be a blessing to those we deal with, and they will see God living in us.
Get your love fizz on!
