Nehemiah 4:14

Nehemiah 4:14

After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”

This is somewhat out of context but this verse strikes me as appropriate in today’s political and cultural climate. As the author stood and told the nobles, officials and the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid,” we must do the same thing. We are children of an awesome God and therefore have no fear of worldly trials as long as we put in everything in his hands. It seems at times to be the “in” thing to belittle someone because of their faith and for their public show of their love of God. As the Jews armed themselves and continued work on the wall, we too can arm ourselves with the armor of God and fight to protect our families and brethren from evil things. Satan will always have agents here on earth to try and tear down anything that we will do to glorify God, but through Christ and his grace, we will always be protected.
