John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.“
That is really hard to wrap your head around right? I mean can you even fathom giving your child to die for even the best, most loved person in the world? I can’t, yet God sent his only Son to die for ALL sinners, not just good people but the worst of the worst. And he knew they would be the worst of the worst when he did it. Yet he still did, and it is forever and ever and ever, not just a short time. He said “everlasting life”.
So how often do we think about this HUGE thing? Do we just think about it on Sunday mornings when we are taking communion or listening to the sermon? Or do we think of this Great Sacrifice every minute of every day? I mean do we really think about this when our feet hit the floor in the morning. Are we still thinking about it and thankful for it when we go to bed at night?
This is the biggest sacrifice anyone has ever or will ever do for us. This gives me the hope I need to survive a life of evil people. I mean if I believe in him, I’m baptized and live my life like he instructs me to, I will have Everlasting life. This is so very comforting to me and should be to us all.
