Romans 8:38-39

Romans 8:38-39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is an old song we sometimes sing (though maybe not often because it is an old song) that says “O Love, that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in Thee.  I give Thee back the life I owe that in Thine ocean depths its flow may richer, fuller be.”

That is a very powerful and assuring message when we face times that try our souls.  We often get discouraged when we see and hear the news and get bombarded by stories of man’s cruelty to man.  We come to the point of exhaustion and despair thinking “What’s the use.”  But when we face times like that we need to be reminded of powerful scriptures like this that tell us that God’s love is something that never fails, and it will never be taken away from us.  Since God loves us unconditionally, let us seek to love one another unconditionally.  Don’t let anger, or grudges, or unkind words, or anything else cause us to stop loving one another just as God will not let anything cause Him to stop loving us.
