Living in the Presence of God (part 2) Listening for God’s Voice

Mike Seale

The question is often asked, “How do I hear God’s voice?” First, it is important to remember, Scripture is very clear, God speaks! Noah, Abraham, Hagar, Rebekah, Isaac, Jacob, Laban, Abimelech, Moses (and the list goes on) all heard GOD’s voice. The second person of the Holy Trinity is even called, “Word.” Scripture itself is “God-breathed (2Tim.3:16; 2Pet.1:21). The fact is, God is not silent (Heb.1:1). Hearing God’s voice BEGINS by pursuing the places where we find God speaking; His Son (The Word) and Scripture, the written Word. But there are times we need a very SPECIFIC Word from God about a decision we are facing. Daniel sought God for 21 days through prayer and a special fast (no choice food; no meat or wine touched his lips Dan.10:3).

The Challenge, if you are needing a specific Word from God, you are going to need to seek God in those places where He speaks: Jesus, His Word, the indwelling Spirit, and the quiet discipline of prayer and fasting. Be blessed today as you start your journey to hear God’s voice.
