Years ago my father-in-law was teaching a class on the Book of Leviticus. He shared with me his typed out notes, which I still have to this day. I remember the thrust and theme: “How does an unholy people come before a Holy GOD?” When we talked later, he also shared with me a message from his minister, Jerry Whitmire, (I think was his last name) and the message was on coming before GOD. First, we come before GOD on His terms, not ours. (Leviticus is all about that) and second, we must come before Him bringing blood. That is in both Exodus and Leviticus, the shedding of innocent blood that is brought before GOD and sprinkled on and then poured out before the alter (Lev.4:3-7). Today, as unholy people, we still come before Him on His terms and we come bringing the blood, the blood of Christ. Our hands are soaked with the blood of Jesus. It was my sins that held Him there on the cross.
The Challenge for us today is to remember we don’t approach GOD in just any way we choose, we come before Him in the mighty name of Jesus through His atoning sacrificial blood. Be blessed today because you have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb (Hebrews 9:11-14).
