“In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission (forgiveness)” (Heb.9:22).
Are there moments in your life that you wish “never happened?” Maybe there are some things you said that alienated you in a relationship with someone else. Maybe a bad business deal that created strife and ended an opportunity for the both of you. A terrible family history, a bad marriage, a fallout with a child. We all have moments we either wish never happened or wish we could erase. Moments in the past that seem to imprison us in bondage.
In Hebrews 9:22 the Bible tells us the blood of Jesus is our remission or forgiveness. The word in the Greek is “aphesis” and means to release from bondage or imprisonment; a pardon of sins (letting them go as if they had never happened or never been committed) or remission from the penalty.
The song, “There is Power in the Blood,” reminds us of how perfectly powerful the blood of Christ is for our lives. The blood of Jesus releases us from bondage, it opens the prison door, it declares, “It never happened!”
In GOD’s own unique way, He has pardoned us from the guilt of our sins and from the penalty of our sins through the blood of His Son, Jesus.
The Challenge today is to live in freedom from the haunting past and the guilt of our sins. If you have sinned recently (and I’m sure you have) confess your sins, because GOD is faithful and just to forgive our sins and purify us through the blood of Jesus (I John 1:7-9).
Be blessed today in the cleansing power of the blood!
